| In a newly released Statement from Israel’s Foreign Ministry, the Jewish State said it supports the territorial integrity and the sovereignty of Ukraine — but did not make a mention of Russian President Vladimir Putin or condemn the aggressive actions taken by Russia. “Israel shares the concern of the international community regarding the steps taken in eastern Ukraine and the serious escalation in the situation,” the statement noted. “Israel is continuing to engage in dialogue with its partners on ways to get the diplomatic efforts back on track.” Political analysts argue that Israel cannot afford to sever its ties with Moscow, especially over military coordination in Syria, and is therefore taking a more balanced approach as a seemingly neutral participant. |

| As the administration of President Joe Biden moves toward restoring the 2015 international nuclear deal with Iran, former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations how the deal will ultimately enable Iranian arms to reach as far as the United States. “You’re postponing nuclear capabilities for a few years and giving it a kosher seal of international approval for Iran to develop nuclear weapons,” he said. “The prospect of marriage between nuclear weapons and militant Islam is the greatest danger the world faces. Do you want a world in which a militant Islamist state and ayatollahs have nuclear weapons with the ability to reach New York and Los Angeles?” Reports indicate the outcome of the Iranian negotiations will lead to a shorter and weaker deal, giving Iran an open track to develop nuclear capabilities within a few short years. |
