Le Président Schulz exprime son émotion et ses condoléances après l’attentat de Nice

Je fais part ce matin de mon immense émotion face à l’attentat qui a ensanglanté la ville de Nice hier soir.
Je souhaite exprimer, au nom du Parlement européen, mes condoléances aux familles et aux proches des nombreuses victimes, j’envoie tous mes vœux de rétablissement aux blessés. Je salue le courage et la solidarité des services de sécurité et de santé mais aussi des habitants de Nice.
Ceux qui ont commis ou aidé à commettre cet acte d’une atroce lâcheté ont choisi une date symbolique, un moment de joie cher aux cœurs des Français et ont attaqué un lieu incontournable du patrimoine national.
Ils n’entameront pas notre détermination à lutter contre le terrorisme, en France, en Europe et partout dans le monde.
Les blessures physiques et psychologiques mettront du temps à guérir mais j’appelle les Français à ne pas céder aux sirènes de la division et de la haine. Liberté, égalité, fraternité : la France restera debout.

President Schulz expresses his deep sorrow and condolences following the attack in Nice
Brussels – 15 July 2016
This morning, I would like to express my deep sorrow following the attack last night in Nice.
On behalf of the European Parliament, I would like to extend my condolences to the families and friends of the many victims. I send my wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured. I commend the courage and solidarity of both the emergency services and ordinary citizens of Nice.
Those who have committed this act of appalling cowardice chose a symbolic date, a moment which is special for French people and their national heritage.
Our determination to fight against terrorism, in France, in Europe and throughout the world is not deterred.
Physical and psychological wounds will be slow to heal but I call on the French people to stand strong and united against these acts of hatred. France should not surrender its values of freedom, equality, and fraternity.
