שיט לזכר אניית אלטלנה
הפלגה לזכרם של גיבורי אלטלנה התקיימה הבוקר מול חופי תל אביב יפו. מנמל יפו יצאה סירה עמוסה בלמעלה מ-100 אנשים, אל האזור בו הופגזה והוטבעה האניה אלטלנה בעיצומה של מלחמת העצמאות. ההפלגה נערכה ע”י חברי חוג „אלטלנה – ציונים רוויזיוניסטים חדשים” וצוות הליכוד העולמי בראשות ח”כ דני דנון. מטרת ההפלגה היא להזכיר את קיומו של הפצע הפתוח של פרשת אלטלנה, היכן שיהודים נרצחו בידי אחיהם קין בגלל שנאת חינם, והיכן שבכל מחיר נמנעה מלחמת אחים בזכות החלטתו של מנחם בגין, מפקד האצ”ל.
אל ההפלגה הצטרפו צעירים ועד קשישים מן המחנה הלאומי, וביניהם חברי הליכוד העולמי, וחברי הדור הצעיר בתנועת הליכוד. בהפלגה גם נכחו ותיקי האצ”ל, וכן מזכיר ברית חיילי האצ”ל איציק שמחון. כל הנוכחים שמעו מגוף ראשון את סיפורו המרתק של יוסק’ה נחמיאס, אשר היה נוכח על סיפון האלטלנה עם אשתו בזמן ההפגזה, ומי שהשליך את המפקד בגין אל המים. ח”כ דנון מבקש להודות לכל המשתתפים בהפלגה.

הליכוד חגג את איחוד ירושלים
למעלה מ-400 חברי הליכוד ציינו את חגיגות יום השנה לאיחודה של ירושלים.
ביוזמת הליכוד העולמי נערך אירוע חגיגי באתר הארכיאולוגי „עיר דוד” בירושלים. במהלך הערב נערך סיור בין העתיקות וכינוס במעמד יו”ר הליכוד ח”כ דני דנון. דנון הודה לכל המשתתפים ודיבר על הצורך החיוני לשמור את ירושלים המאוחדת כולה בריבונות ישראל. צוות הליכוד העולמי ישמח לראותכם גם באירועים הבאים.
מורים מאיטליה יוכשרו ללמד על השואה
הסכם נחתם בין משרד החינוך הישראלי למשרד החינוך האיטלקי, בנושא הכשרת מורים איטלקים להוראת השואה ובנושא חילופי נוער בין ישראל לאיטליה. ההסכם נחתם ברומא, בירת איטליה.
במסגרת זו נחתם לראשונה הסכם להכשרת מורים איטלקים להוראת השואה באיטליה. לפי ההסכם משרד החינוך האיטלקי יבחר בכל שנה מורים שיעברו הכשרה להוראת השואה ב”יד ושם” בישראל. מורים אלה ילמדו את הנושא בתיכונים באיטליה.
טרום חתימת ההסכם התקיימו סמינרים להכשרת מורים איטלקים להוראת השואה באמצעות יוזמות שאינן ממשלתיות. החתימה על הסכם בין שרי החינוך מעידה על נכונות ומחויבות של משרד החינוך האיטלקי לקדם נושא לימודי השואה.
Sailing in memory of Altalena
World Likud, led by Chairman MK Danny Danon, in cooperation with the “Altalena – the New Revisionist Zionists” Forum, set sail in memory of the fallen heroes of the Altalena Ship that sank in 1948 during the War of Independence. The ceremony began in the Port of Jaffa as more than 100 people boarded the boat, which then sailed to the site where the ship sank 63 years ago. The purpose of the event was to remember the victims on the ship who were killed during the violent confrontation between the newly- formed Israel Defense Forces and the Irgun.
Participants of the ceremony included World Likud supporters, former Irgun members and their families, members of the Young Generation of Likud Supporters, and members of the Altalena Forum. Yoske Nachmias, a former soldier of the Irgun and a firsthand witness to the Altalena Affair, shared his story telling how he was the one who threw Menachem Begin off the Ship.
Celebrating 44 years of Jerusalem Reunification
To celebrate 44 years since the reunification of Jerusalem, World Likud hosted Likud Members from Jerusalem in the new archeological excavated City of David. The evening included a guided tour of the site, refreshments, and an address by Chairman MK Danny Danon. Danon spoke about the significance of this honor and stressed the importance of keeping Jerusalem ours. More than 400 people attended the event.
Israel ranked 14th in Global Innovation
The Global Innovation Index (GII) 2011 has just been published and Israel is ranked number 14, gaining nine spots over last year’s position. The GII recognizes the key role of innovation as a driver of economic growth and prosperity. With a population of 7.3 million, Israel is ranked number 96 in global population. The top three ranked countries in the Index are Switzerland, Sweden and Singapore. The United States is ranked seventh with Canada below them at eight.

Israel Set to Train Italian Teachers to Teach About Holocaust
A cooperation agreement that was signed between Israel and Italy’s Education Ministers, is calling for a joint training initiative in Holocaust education. It is the first of its kind and will require the Italian Education Ministry to select teachers to attend special training at Yad Vashem on an annual basis. The teachers will then return to Italy and teach the subject in Italian secondary schools. In addition, the agreement calls for bilateral youth exchanges. Israeli Education Minister Gideon Saar was elated and said that, “Enhancing Holocaust studies around the world, especially in Europe, constitutes a bulwark against forgetting and denying the Holocaust”.
Most Americans Support Israel
A survey conducted by the Israel Project: American Attitudes toward the Middle East has found that most American voters support Israel. Americans identifying themselves as Israel supporters outnumber Palestinian supporters by a 5.6 to 1 ratio.
In addition, most respondents said that they have warm feelings towards Israel, while most oppose a unilateral Palestinian Authority declaration of a state. American voters also replied that they oppose the Fatah-Hamas agreement, as Hamas is backed by Iran and the agreement gives Hamas a bigger role among Palestinians.
Economy Expanding, Employment Up
According to Bank of Israel statistics, economic activity continued to expand in the second quarter, albeit more slowly than in the first quarter of 2011. The Israeli economy is continuing to expand and employment rate is up. Unemployment rate has reached an all-time low, standing at only 5.8 percent in April – a total of 186,000 unemployed people, despite the rise in the number of workers joining the labor market.
The Bank of Israel recently revised its growth forecast for 2011 upwards, to 5.2 percent (compared with 4.5 percent in the previous forecast). The Central Bureau of Statistics trends survey reflects positive expectations of activity in the principal industries in the next few months.

Record Tourism this summer
Travel to Israel reached a new all-time high in May with the arrival of 268,000 international tourists staying more than one night – a 5% increase compared to May 2010. Also, approximately 1,168,000 tourists arrived in Israel between January and May 2011 – 4% more than the same period last year.
