The Jerusalem Post discusses the pilgrimages of Christians to the Holy Land, and declares: “Seeing the excitement of Christian visitors to the Holy Land can help Israelis rekindle the warmth of their own attachment to the land, and especially to Jerusalem as we prepare to celebrate its reunification on Sunday.”
Haaretz attacks Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, for their abusive behavior towards employees at their official residence. Relying on facts that have come to light in recent court cases, the editor reveals what he believes to be the fundamental problem: “attempts at interference and intimidation by those who believe they are above the law.”
Yediot Aharonot states that the incoming Minister of Defense has been championing the idea of a comprehensive arrangement between Israel and the Arab world for a long while, and declares: “Now, with Egyptian President al-Sisi promoting just such a move, Lieberman’s commitment to his proclaimed vision will be put to the test.”
Israel Hayom discusses the Gay Pride Parade, which will take place on Friday in Tel Aviv, and notes that it is “a perfect opportunity to do some soul searching, on both the individual and societal level.” The author adds: “It serves as a call to each and every one of us to find that part within ourselves that is terrified of ideas that oppose our own, and to calm that part within us,” and concludes: “It is important to do on an individual level, to make us into more accepting, tolerant, giving individuals, and it is critical to do as a multi-layered society that is fighting external enemies for its very existence and desperately needs calm from within.”
