Schulz többek között elmondta, hogy rendkívül fontos a munkahelyteremtés, és meg kell találni az együttműködés módját Oroszországgal, ha arra az oroszok is készek.

Plenary sessions : MEPs called for binding human rights clauses in all EU international agreements in a vote on Thursday on the EU’s report on human rights and democracy in 2013. Guaranteeing common standards for the reception of refugees, tackling Russia’s „continuing slide towards authoritarian rule” and adopting a coherent approach to human rights in China were among the issues included in the resolution.

Plenary sessions : The Venezuelan authorities must immediately release all peaceful protesters, students and opposition leaders arbitrarily detained for exercising their right to freedom of expression and fundamental rights, Parliament said in a vote on Thursday. The government must also put an end to the political persecution and repression of the democratic opposition, it added.

Plenary sessions : Parliament hailed counter-terrorism cooperation between the EU and the League of Arab States in a vote on Thursday, but stressed it must not compromise the rule of law, human and fundamental rights. The recently-signed memorandum of understanding between the two organisations must be made public, it added.

Plenary sessions : The EU has yet to exploit its full potential to shape the international and security environment, says Parliament in a resolution passed on Thursday. EU foreign policy must be proactive, credible and strategic and based on a shared vision of EU interests and values and a common perception of threats. It must seek to contain Russia and boost security and stabilisation in its southern neighbourhood.

Plenary sessions : Parliament passed three resolutions on Thursday: strongly condemning the practice of land grabbing in Tanzania; asking member states to take proactive action to counter the expansion of Da’esh beyond Syria and Iraq; and calling on all sides in South Sudan to form a transitional government of national unity.

Plenáris ülés : Borisz Nyemcov orosz ellenzéki politikus meggyilkolásának felderítésére független, nemzetközi vizsgálatot kell indítani, jelentették ki a képviselők egy csütörtökön megszavazott állásfoglalásban. Ez a „közelmúltbeli oroszországi történelem legjelentősebb politikai gyilkosság[a]ˮ, fogalmaztak. A Kreml propagandája „elnyomással, gyűlöletbeszéddel és félelemmel átitatott országgá alakítja Oroszországotˮ.
