Rövid áttekintés – Azerbaijan’s political parties and the EU

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev plays an omnipotent role in the country’s political system, giving the different political parties no room for manoeuvre. The government is in favour of a strategic energy-focused partnership with the EU. The opposition, which is small and fragmented, advocates signing an Association Agreement with the EU as a way to improve democracy, human rights and living conditions.
