Israel Atomic Energy Commission Director Dr. Horev and FM Liberman briefed the Cabinet on the main points of aforesaid IAEA report on Iran’s nuclear activity.At the weekly Cabinet meeting Sunday, 13 November 2011:
1. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made the following remarks:
„Today, the Cabinet will receive a briefing on the IAEA report. This is a comprehensive document that strengthens the claims by leading countries in the world and Israel that Iran is systematically developing nuclear weapons.
Any responsible government in the world needs to draw the obvious conclusions from the IAEA report. The international community must stop Iran’s race to arm itself with nuclear weapons, a race that endangers the peace of the entire world.”
2. Justice Minister Yaakov Neeman expressed his and the Cabinet’s condolences to Sara Netanyahu, Prime Minister Netanyahu and their family on the passing of her father, the late Shmuel Ben-Artzi.
3. Israel Atomic Energy Commission Director Dr. Shaul Horev and Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman briefed the Cabinet on the main points of aforesaid IAEA report on Iran’s nuclear activity, as well as on various countries’ reactions to it.
4. The Cabinet today unanimously approved the proposal to consider alternatives for the construction of the Heichal Hatanakh (Bible) Museum in or near Jerusalem. The decision states, „The Tanakh is where the Jewish people – in Israel and the Diaspora – was forged. The goals for its establishment are directed both inward toward Israeli society, and toward the peoples of the world and the academic community.”
According to the plan, the museum, which will also serve as a conference center, will feature manuscripts of the Bible that have been translated into 2,000 languages and dialects. It will also feature artistic drawings and photographs that tell the stories of the Bible; statues will be placed in its courtyard. Visitors will be asked to note their favorite verses from the Bible.
5. Pursuant to its 19 Dec 2010 and 26 June 2011 decisions, the Cabinet decided to ask the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee to approve the number of IDF soldiers doing their compulsory service to bodies and units outside the IDF.
As per the foregoing, the Cabinet approved draft amendments to the 2010 and 1986 Security Services laws and authorized the Ministerial Committee on Legislation to approve the final draft and submit it to the Knesset.
