Monthly Summary – September 2011  
September has seen a significant decrease in the number of attacks: 68 attacks as opposed to 178 in August (134 were rocket launchings and mortar shells).

The main decrease comes from the Gaza Strip: 12 attacks (as opposed to 135 in August).


On the other hand, September has seen an increase in the number of attacks in the Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem as opposed to August: 39 attacks in the Judea and Samaria area (30 in August) and 17 in Jerusalem (6 in August).
A shooting incident has occurred in September from within Sinai against Israeli targets.


Two Izraelis – a father and his baby son – were killed on September 23 as a result of stone/object casting near Hebron (Judea); and two Israelis were injured – a security officer (September 7) and a civilian (September 21), as a result of firebomb throwing in Judea.




Data regarding terror attacks in September 2011

Following is a regional distribution of attacks:


12 attacks in the Gaza Strip (135 in August); 39 attacks in the Judea and Samaria (30 in August); 17 attacks in Jerusalem (6 in August).


Jerusalem and the Judea and Samaria area: Most attacks executed in September (54 out of 56) were in the form of firebombs (August: 34 out of 36).

Following is a distribution of attacks in September according to regions:


The Gaza Strip – 12 attacks: 8 rockets launching; 1 mortar shell launching; 2 small arms shooting; 1 explosive device.


Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem – 56 attacks: 1 explosive device; 1 object/ stone throwing; 54 firebombs (17 in Jerusalem).



High-trajectory launchings from the Gaza Strip

Throughout September 2011, 8 rockets and 2 mortar shell were launched towards Israel (in 9 attacks), compared to 145 rockets and 46 mortar shells in August 2011 (in 134 attacks).
