Rabin assassin Yigal Amir has requested from authorities at the Ayalon Prison where he is incarcerated to permit him and his wife Larissa Trimbobler to undergo fertility treatments so she can get pregnant. Amir’s petition to undergo in-vitro fertlization treatments comes after the Supreme Court, in conjunction with a ruling by Prison Services, decided to treat Amir as a security prisoner and deny him the right to conjugal relations with Trimbobler. „We are requesting to keep the same characteristics for all security prisoners, and as such we can cannot allow Amir to engage in sexual intercourse,” Prison Services had said. Amir’s request is expected to be brought to rabbinical authorities and the Ministry of Justice in the coming days. Precedents have been set denying prisoners the right to fertility treatments, according to legal experts. In those cases, judges ruled based on whether fertilization would be in the best interest of the child. Prison Services on Saturday called Amir’s latest request „a legal blitz,” saying this raises a much greater question than any of his previous requests. BPI-info
