TENNENBAUM EXPECTED TO BE RELEASED THIS WEEK. ______________________________ SUMMARY OF EDITORIALS FROM THE HEBREW PRESS Yediot Ahronot asserts that, “The most frightening weapon in the Israeli-Palestinian war of consciousness is the children.” The editors believe that, “Israeli children who are killed in terrorist attacks are a horrifying reality, a senseless massacre, in which every attempted justification only attests to the justifier’s distorted world,” but suggest that, “As far as Palestinian children are concerned, the picture is distorted, unclear and subject to manipulation by both sides.” The paper refers to the Israeli effort to focus attention on the two recent attempts by Palestinian terrorists to use children to perpetrate bomb attacks but caution that, “A 10-year-old child who earns a living by carrying packages through roadblocks for people in exchange for NIS 5 per package, expresses a reality no less harsh than a child whose innocent appearance is exploited by others in order to move explosive belts.” The editors aver that, “Day by day, child by child, the mutual, hate-filled view of the two peoples gripped in this tribal war justifies itself.” Hatzofeh notes that Trade, Industry and Employment Minister Ehud Olmert recently called for, “the implementation of the disengagement plan even if Israel’s demands vis-a-vis the US are not accepted.” The editors strongly attack Minister Olmert’s record as Mayor of Jerusalem and says that, in effect, he and Prime Minister Ariel Sharon are declaring: “You don’t want to give anything in exchange?
