NEW YORK / BUDAPEST, April 9 – World Jewish Congress President Ronald S. Lauder will deliver the keynote address at this year’s ‘March of the Living’ program in Budapest in commemoration of the victims of the Holocaust.
The event will take place in the Hungarian capital on Sunday, April 12, beginning at 3:30 PM. The marchers will leave from the Dohány Street Synagogue and walk to Felvonulási Square where, at 5:00 PM, WJC President Lauder will give his keynote speech. In the evening, Lauder will host a dinner for the participants in the General Assembly of the Federation of Jewish Communities in Hungary (MAZSIHISZ).
About 560,000 Hungarian Jews were murdered during the Holocaust, most of them in 1944. Today, Hungary’s Jewish community numbers around 100,000 and it is still the largest in Central Europe.
The ‘March of the Living; in Hungary is organized every year by the March of the Living Foundation, with the support of the MAZSIHISZ. Thousands are expected to participate in the event.

Heisler András, a MAZSIHISZ elnökének meghívására a hétvégén Budapestre látogat Ronald S. Lauder, a Zsidó Világkongresszus elnöke. Lauder az Élet Menete Alapítvány felkérésére részt vesz vasár nap Az Élet Menete rendezvényen, amelyen a holokauszt áldozataira és a felszabadulás 70. évfordulójára emlékeznek a résztvevők.
Az idén tizenharmadik alkalommal megrendezésre kerülő Élet Menete a Dohány utcai zsinagóga elől indul április 12. (vasárnap) 15:30 órakor a menet az 56-osok terére vonul át. 17:00 órakor mond beszédet az emlékműsor főszónoka, Ronald S. Lauder.
A Zsidó Világkongresszus elnöke aznap este nagyszabású gálavacsorát ad a MAZSIHISZ Közgyűlési tagjainak, amely egyedüli magyarországi tagszervezete a világ legnagyobb és legjelentősebb zsidó érdekvédelmi szervezetének, a Zsidó Világkongresszusnak.
