As the nuclear deal between Iran and the Western powers begins to go into effect, and the economic sanctions imparted on the country are eased, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani presented a speech at the World Economic Forum in in Davos, Switzerland with the goal of encouraging investment in the country’s weak economy.

As a result of Iranian efforts in past years to produce a nuclear weapon, the country’s economy has reached its weakest levels in years. Yet as the nuclear agreement with the West begins to go into effect, the Iranians hope to encourage investors to reconsider Iran. Besides the speech that Rouhani will give on the Forum’s main stage, he is also expected to meet with a number of prominent international businessmen in order to promote his failing economy.

Just hours after Rouhani’s speech, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to present his own speech in which he hopes will encourage investment in the Israeli economy, with an emphasis on the high-tech sector. Yesterday, Netanyahu met with the CEO of Yahoo! Marissa Mayer, and he will later meet with a number of prominent business figures in order to promote the Israeli economy.

Netanyahu addressed the importance of the Forum stating, “We live in a global world, in a world of technology and entrepreneurship, which crosses borders and in which Israel shines. Such an advantage is likely to give us the power and might that are so important to our security and the development of our society”.
