Defense Minister Moshe Dayan briefing about the active operations against the Egyptian Army after crossing the  suez canal.

As part of a special project in honor of 40 years to the Yom Kippur War, the Defense Minister went out on a journey in time, returned as part of a special project and was excited from the time of war as illustrated in rare video pictures in instagram.   One of the parts that were posted to the Defense Ministry page was an interview recorded with the Defense Minister at that time, Moshe Dayan, when he related about active operations against the Egyptian Army upon crossing the Canal.

“Our infrastructure was hurt by the Egyptian Army,” Dayan said in the film clip.  “Our rear assistance was hurt while embarking cannons, missile batteries, and supply provisions.”

The day the media uploaded the video clip pictures from the Defense Ministry Archives, of which some of them were never before published, bore witness to the time of the fighting and the self-sacrifice of the northern and southern fronts that turned symbolic during the war—the occupation of the Hermon, the close-by Bekaa Valley, the crossing of the Suez Cannel, the nearby Sinai Dessert, the invasion of Africa, and rare footage from the pilot’s seat while fighting in the air.

Clips of Prime Minister Golda Meir assisting the area, the General Chief of Staff David Elazar during moments of critical decision in the midst of the war, the fraternity of the fighters resting briefly with relatives, the choir Hagashash HaHiver appearing in front of the wars’soldiers, and documentation of the young fighters, seconds before transforming into Israeli heroes.
