Cabinet Approves Opening of Diplomatic Negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians in Accordance with PM Netanyahu’s Statement on the Negotiations 

The Izraeli  Cabinet, today (Sunday, 27 July 2013), approved the opening of diplomatic negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians in accordance with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statement regarding the negotiations, and authorized a ministerial team on the release of Palestinian prisoners during the negotiations. The Prime Minister will chair the team; its other members will be Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon, Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch and Science, Technology and Space Minister Yaakov Peri. Prime Minister Netanyahu said, „This moment is not easy for me. It is not easy for the ministers. It is not easy especially for the families, the bereaved families, whose heart I understand. But there are moments in which tough decisions must be made for the good of the country and this is one of those moments.”

ברוב של 13 תומכים מול שבעה מתנגדים ושני נמנעים, קיבלה הממשלה את ההחלטה לשחרר 104 אסירים ביטחוניים. בישיבה נחשפו פערים עמוקים. ראש הממשלה: „יש רגעים שבהם צריך לקבל החלטות קשות לטובת המדינה וזהו אחד מהרגעים הללו”
