  • Netanyahu wants peace talks without pre-conditions

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Wednesday he would be willing to launch direct peace negotiations with the Palestinians without preconditions in order to reach a historic agreement that would end the conflict, Yediot Aharonot reports.

Speaking to reporters in Warsaw alongside Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Netanyahu said the time has come to end the „squabbling over preconditions” and resume negotiations.

Netanyahu said that such a peace entailed a demilitarised Palestinian state that recognises Israel as the Jewish state and „ironclad security arrangements for Israel”.

„I believe that these are the elements for peace. I don’t pose them as preconditions for negotiations. I look forward to enter those negotiations without preconditions without delay. I am ready for such a peace. I hope the Palestinians are ready too,” Netanyahu declared.

  • Two men arrested for attacking foreigners

Two youths from Tel Aviv were arrested on suspicion of perpetrating a string of hate-motivated crimes targeting foreign nationals.

Last Saturday, the two men, Levy Melayev, 22 and Itamar Cohen, 24, lodged a complaint against a group of foreigners who they claimed attacked them while they were attempting to assist a young woman.

A police investigation found that the two frequently roamed southern Tel Aviv, picking on foreigners and at times beating them and robbing them of their phones or other items.

The men were arrested after a search of their home revealed clubs and brass knuckles which, according to police suspicions, were used in the attacks.
