Iron Dome defence system upgraded
Israel is upgrading its Iron Dome defence system in the face of potential long-range security threats to the country, Yediot Aharonot reports.

A series of tests has been completed in recent days on the system which proved highly effective during the rocket attacks by Hamas terrorists on civilian targets.

The Iron Dome is the world’s first and only system developed to intercept short-range missiles.

Peres calls on all citizens to vote
Israeli President Shimon Peres has called on all citizens of the State of Israel to come out and vote on Tuesday, the Times of Israel reports.

Speaking to the electorate through his Facebook page, Peres said he was voting “as a citizen who loves his country, as a citizen who’s proud to have a democratic state.”

“It’s very important that every one of you, once every four years, shows the world that this is a democratic country, with citizens who love their country and democracy. Come out and do so, with a whole heart, with pride and full participation,” he added.
