Israeli Vice Prime Minister Mofaz to U.S. President Obama: „I Thank You for Firmly Standing beside Israel and its Security”
Mofaz met with President Obama and National Security Advisor Donilon at the White House today
Israeli Vice Prime Minister, Shaul Mofaz, thanked U.S. President Barack Obama for his steadfast support of Israel when the President joined a meeting between Mofaz and National Security Advisor, Tom Donilon, at the White House today.
In the meeting, which lasted for over half an hour, the Vice Prime Minister briefed the President on the challenges facing Israel and the region. Mofaz pointed to the newly formed coalition in the Knesset as a window of opportunity to restart talks with the Palestinians.
When discussing the Iranian nuclear threat, Mofaz emphasized the importance of passing harsher sanctions of Tehran while continuing to prepare other options which would prevent the Iranians from obtaining nuclear weapons.
The Vice Prime Minister also emphasized to the President that maintaining the peace treaty with Egypt is of paramount importance to Israel.
