This year, as in every year, thousands of IDF soldiers volunteered as part of the “Flower for a Survivor” project, a special project where soldiers visit Holocaust survivors in honor of the annual Holocaust Remembrance Day In Israel. The day, commemorated on the Hebrew date of Nisan 27th–the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising–honors both the victims of the Nazi regime those who opposed it.

Soldiers from all parts of the country pair up to visit Holocaust survivors, hear their stories, and present them with marks of appreciation. This project has been ongoing for several years, since 2005, as each year more and more soldiers get the chance to meet the survivors, approximately 200,000 of which currently live in in Israel.
