One of the topics discussed in al-Zahar and Salehi’s meeting was the recent escalation between Gaza Strip-based militant groups and air strikes on Gaza, calling them „savage attacks by the Zionist regime against the innocent Palestinian population.

„Support for the Palestinian population is part of our principles and religious beliefs and we are certain that the Palestinian people will triumph,” Salehi said. Zahar, in return, thanked Iran for its „limitless support.”

The Lebanese AL-Manar news agency later quoted Jalili as reiterating Iran’s „unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.”

He further cautioned al-Zahar against „Zionist plots” seeking to divide the Palestinian resistance movement.

„Whenever the resistance movement has been at the peak of power and supremacy the Zionist regime has received fatal blows.

„The flaming fire of resistance would never diminish, or cool down, because in order to embrace glorious victories we have thus far dedicated a great number of martyrs,” Jalili added.

Zahar reportedly answered with „the principles and strategy of the Palestinian Islamic resistance will not change.

„The regional Islamic revolutions are all in line with strengthening the Islamic objectives, the upcoming victory of the Palestinian nation, and changing the power balance in the region,” he said.
