Yediot Ahronot discusses the various challenges – foreign and domestic – facing Israel and declares that: „It is within our ability to deal with these challenges but to do so, we must concentrate resources and strength and focus on priorities. Regarding those who deny our very right to exist, at home and abroad, our position must be vigorous and uncompromising. As for building up the center of our strength – human resources and capital – we must see to strengthening education and higher education. There is neither security nor prosperity without them.”

Ma’ariv notes that, „The public debate is rife with vigorous advice – from both right and left – on a magic solution for the Kassams; the suggestions are foolish,” and adds, „The question is what happens when the fatal Kassam hits?” The editors comment: „The heart of the problem is when the bad-luck Kassam brings casualties, especially children, the blood in the eyes will hide all other considerations.”
