SUMMARY OF EDITORIALS FROM THE HEBREW PRESS
Yediot Ahronot believes that any peace agreement with the Palestinians will entail releasing all Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, including murderers, but still does not envy the Prime Minister who will have to order their release.
Ma’ariv notes that it was the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin’s government which launched the initiative to build the Jewish Har Homa neighborhood in southern Jerusalem and calls on the Government, „to reject any interference in matters regarding its sovereignty.” The editors note that Golda Meir, Yitzhak Rabin and Menachem Begin all rebuffed American criticism of particular policies and declare that, „If the Prime Minister and his ministers cannot take a determined stand on this non-central issue, there is cause for concern over their conduct when they must decide on genuinely substantive issues.”
