DISCUSSION ON PREPARATIONS AHEAD OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THEDISENGAGEMENT PLAN

convened a meeting of the Directors-General Forum to discuss the preparations ahead of the implementation of the Disengagement Plan. The discussion centered on a simulation that included the Disengagement Authority plan for during the implementation of the Disengagement Plan, while focusing on assisting the population in moving to temporary and permanent housing. The plan includes three main stages: Departure by residents from the communities that are being evacuated, the residents’ arrival at absorption points and moving them to temporary/permanent housing. A team composed of an administrator, a social welfare professional, a health professional, a representative of the PMO, regional representatives, an Amigur representative and an eligibility committee representative will be waiting at the absorption points. This team will assist the settlers during the interim period until they move to the temporary housing. According to the plan, between the second and third stages, the settlers will live for approximately 10 days in hotels in order to enable the families’ belongings to be packed and moved to their new homes. To this end, the Government has reserved rooms in hotels and dormitories. An IDF representative briefed the directors-general on IDF-Disengagement Authority coordination; an Education Ministry representative briefed them on the social activities being planned for young people during the transition period. A Health Ministry representative told the directors-general that the HMO’s close to the absorption points have been directed to care for all settlers during the transition period regardless of the particular HMOs that they belong to. The contents of all synagogues in the Gaza Strip and northern Samaria will be evacuated in full. PMO Director-General Cohen announced that another simulation would be held at the next meeting of the Ministerial Committee on the Implementation of the Disengagement Plan, to be chaired by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. The objective of the simulation is to predict various possible scenarios and come up with fair solutions to such problems as may arise on the ground during the implementation of the Disengagement Plan.
