A Kneszet második szavazási fordulójában 63 szavazattal Reuven Rivlint választották Izrael tizedik államelnökévé.

 
Az eredmény kihirdetését könnyekkel a szemében fogadta a 75 éves politikus.
Rivlin nyolcadik generációs jeruzsálemi lakos. Már fiatal korában a Likud elődje, a Chérut párt híve és tagja volt.
 
Hét évvel ezelőtt már megmérkőzött az államelnöki pozícióért, akkor azonban Simon Peresz lett a győztes.
Rivlin jobboldali, nemzeti felfogású politikus, a Teljes Erec-Jiszráél híve. Szakmájára nézve ügyvéd.
Felesketése a Kneszet Chagall-termében lesz. ◙
