150 Million Europeans Hold Anti-Semitic, Anti-Israel Views

April 3, 2014
150 million Europeans hold deeply anti-Semitic, anti-Israel views, according to noted scholar, Dr. Manfred Gerstenfeld’s recent book, Demonizing Israel and the Jews. In just the last few months:

• e-book editions of Hitler’s Mein Kampf have raced to the top of the best-seller list at amazon.com

• the modified Nazi salute, the “quenelle” is sweeping across Europe

•escalating violence against Jews and Jewish institutions are on the rise from France to Ukraine

In the face of all this hate, the Simon Wiesenthal Center is launching Project 150 Campaign, to fight back against European extremism and hatred, to educate and inform Europeans of the truth of the Holocaust and the history of the Jewish people and the Jewish State and to empower Europe’s leaders to reverse this alarming trend.

SWC Israel Director and Chief Nazi Hunter, Dr. Efraim Zuroff helped to lead counter neo-Nazi demonstrations in Vilnius and confronted Latvians marching in Riga to honor their WWII SS veterans. Dr. Zuroff is pictured (L) in a heated confrontation with Vitas Tomkus, editor of the anti-Semitic tabloid, Respublika, who blamed Dr. Zuroff for ruining Lithuanian-Jewish relations and said about the Holocaust, “Let bygones be bygones”.

Our European office, led by Dr. Shimon Samuels, puts us on the ground in Europe, whenever incidents of anti-Semitism or anti-Israel hate occur, from exposing hate at the Frankfurt Book Fair, to our instrumental role in halting the spread of the ‘quenelle’ salute, created by anti-Semitic French comedian Dieduonné. The SWC is an official NGO at the UN, UNESCO and the Council of Europe, and a respected voice for the Jewish people. At the same time Center leaders continue to meet with high-level European officials, most recently in the Netherlands and Norway.

Help the Center fight back against the shocking fact that 150 million Europeans harbor anti-Semitic, anti-Israel views, by supporting our new Project 150 Campaign. Europe’s Jews are counting on your support.
