SUMMARY OF EDITORIALS FROM THE HEBREW PRESS

Yediot Ahronot asserts that, „As of this morning, the Netanyahu-Barak duo will lock itself in a ‘hermetic cell’ in which it must solve a number of critical and urgent problems.  But the time will come, and it is not far away, when it will start to think of the years to come and of history.  As far as the residents of the Golan Heights are concerned, the grains of sands in the hourglass have begun their slow downward decent.”

Ma’ariv believes that, „The political concoction that was created here this week is of monstrous proportions, yet the chance that the Prime Minister will succeed with it is better than what seems possible.”  The editors assert that, „The new Government signifies a new period.  The return of Netanyahu and the Likud expresses the general feeling that there is no chance for an arrangement with our neighbor.”

Yisrael Hayom notes that, „Netanyahu’s speech will be read in all the foreign ministries in the world, and will be highlighted by red and yellow markers, because in this speech he outlined his [policy] preferences: Separate the issue of Iran and the issue of a settlement with the Palestinians.”
