Five Palestinian children between the ages of 3-9 were admitted to Mayer Hospital for Children at the Rambam Regional Hospital, for their weekly hematological check up following bone marrow transplant.
Their attending physician reported that the children and family members remained calm despite recent events in Northern Israel and the fact that Rambam Hospital has been within Hezbollah missile range for the last 20 days.
Some of the children in Rambam yesterday were sent to Haifa with the help of an Italian organization that funds bone marrow transplants for Palestinian children and some were aided by the Peres Center for Peace and the Palestinian Authority. There is no medical facility within the PA capable of performing bone marrow transplants and children who suffer from Telasimia are receiving continuing medical treatment at Rambam. All in all, 13 children from the PA are being treated in Haifa.
