Jerusalem, October 22, 2003 Meeting of FM Shalom with German Chancellor Schroeder Following his meeting with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder today (October 22, 2003), Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Silvan Shalom said that a final deal has not yet been reached on the issue of the captured and missing in soldiers. He noted that today’s meeting contributed to finding a solution. Foreign Minister Shalom emphasized that the fate of the captured air force navigator Ron Arad remains unclear. On behalf of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, he asked Germany to do everything within its power to obtain new information regarding Arad.


Shalom also stated that the Chancellor is very familiar with all of the issues and has met with the Arad family. The Chancellor is doing all that he can to aid in finding a solution and the Government of Israel thanks him. BPI.
