Austrian students sitting next to white balloons and posters of Austrian Nazi victims at Vienna’s Heldenplatz yesterday. The students took part in a nationwide school project called
„A Letter to the Stars”, which encouraged school children to research the fate of Austria’s 80,000 Holocaust victims. The ceremony was attended by Holocaust survivors and President Thomas Klestil. „Everyone was a possible victim of a regime, which like no other before or after, persecuted, tortured and murdered Austrians,” Klestil said.
