Jeruzsálemben háborút hirdettek a szervezett bűnözés ellen
Benjámin Netanjahu izraeli kormányfő harcot hirdetett vasárnap a szervezett bűnözés ellen, amely immáron a civil járókelőket is veszélyezteti.
„Az utóbbi időben a szervezett bűnözők egyre súlyosabb akcióinak vagyunk tanúi. Eltökélt szándékunk ennek a jelenségnek a gyökeres felszámolása, és ebben támogatjuk az izraeli rendőrséget eddigi és új eszközök bevetésével egyaránt” – mondta Netanjahu a kormányülés kezdetén a közszolgálati rádió híradása szerint.
„Ne az izraeli polgárok féljenek az utcákon szabadon járni, hanem a bűnözőbandák tagjai. Gyorsan be kell börtönözni őket” – tette hozzá a kormányfő.
A miniszterelnök nyilatkozatát egy szombati fegyveres leszámolás váltotta ki: ekkor ugyanis fényes nappal a tel-avivi tengerparti sétánynál két álarcos lelőtt egy kocsijában ülő férfit, miközben rengetegen járkáltak a környéken, egy éppen csokoládéfesztivált tartó népszerű szórakoztató központ mellett.
Az áldozatot, a szitává lőtt 27 éves Taher Lala nevű fiatalembert jól ismerte a rendőrség, maga is egy bűnöző csoport tagja volt. A kivégzést végrehajtó két álarcos előbb gyalog, majd egy szürke autóban elmenekült a környékről, járművüket hamarosan kiégve megtalálták.
Nem elszigetelt jelenségről van szó: az utóbbi hetekben, hónapokban számos alkalommal próbáltak leszámolni egymással különböző izraeli bűnbandák. Még egy hete sincs, hogy egy férfit egy járműben elhelyezett pokolgéppel megöltek Tel-Aviv déli részén.
Előzőleg, február harmadikán a szervezett alvilág két tagja vesztette életét szintén egy gépjármű felrobbanásakor, de a rendőrség szerint az „üzemi baleset” volt, a pokolgép minden bizonnyal véletlenül, rosszkor lépett működésbe.
Tavaly december végén egy apát és fiát sebesített meg súlyosan egy járműre szerelt robbanószerkezet, és az előző fél évben is többen megsérültek hasonló merényletekben, az izraeli maffiacsaládok egymás elleni harcában.
Netanyahu to Israeli Crime Families: ‘You Should be Worried’
Following the wave of assassination attempts as of late, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned the Israeli crime families that the police will be stepping up its efforts. “We fully support all efforts by police to use existing and new methods”, warned Netanyahu. “The members of the crime families should be put in jail as soon as possible”.
As a result of the criminal assassinations throughout Israel lately, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to up efforts by police to fight crime on the streets. “We must get rid of this disturbing phenomenon”, announced Netanyahu this morning (Sunday) during a government meeting. “The members of crime families need to be worried — they need to be put in jail as soon as possible”.
“We have laid witness to terrible events lately involving organized criminal organizations and we give our full support to efforts by police to use existing and new methods to fight crime”, added Netanyahu, stressing that he is serious about upping police efforts to arrest the members of the criminal families. “Israeli citizens should not be afraid to leave their homes and roam the streets freely”, added Netanyahu.
The Mayor of Tel Aviv, Ron Huldai, spoke of the assassination that occurred yesterday in the city, accusing the legal system for the violent occurrence. “Judges are too afraid to give serious sentences to criminals like these because they fear that other members of the family will try to hurt them in response”, said Huldai in a radio interview. Huldai added that the Ministry of Internal Security does not do enough to control the phenomena, “I have been asking the police for 15 years for authority to hire inspectors just for this issue, but they have continued to refuse”.
“I don’t think that the problem is that the police ignores the phenomenon on purpose, rather they do not have enough man power in order to withstand the crime”, added Huldai.
Behind the assassination yesterday, conflict between crime families
Meanwhile, investigations into the assassination yesterday in the heart of Tel Aviv continue. The main suspect is a known criminal from Yaffo, connected with the Haled Clan of crime families, and police continue to search for his connection to yesterday’s disturbing events.
The conflict between the Haled and Ayash families in Yaffo has gone on for years, and the murder victim yesterday is believed to be the righthand man of the head of operations for the Abu-Ayash family. In this stage of the investigation, the police continue to collect witness statements in order to keep the suspects in custody and to formulate indictments against them. The police have been collecting evidence mainly from the vehicle that was supposedly used by the assassins, as well as analyzing the security camera footage of the event.
