Cabinet Unanimously Approves Extension of Police Commissioner’s Term in Office

The Cabinet, at its weekly meeting today (Sunday, 19 January 2014), unanimously approved the extension of Israel Police Commissioner Insp.-Gen. Yohanan Danino’s term in office for an additional year.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, „There has been a significant improvement in the performance of the Israel Police, especially in regards to dealing with crime and the struggle against road accidents. The Cabinet, at its weekly meeting today (Sunday, 19 January 2014), unanimously approved the extension of Prison Service Commissioner Lt.-Gen. Aharon Franko’s term in office for an additional year.

Security Cabinet Decides

The Security Cabinet, this morning (Sunday, 19 January 2014), decided to end the distribution of gas mask kits next month in light of the security establishment’s assessment that there has been a significant decline in the threat of chemical weapons being fired at Israel.
After next month, the production of kits will continue on a limited basis but they will not be distributed and will be for use by rescue forces.
A decision regarding equipping the population with kits in the coming years will be made following an additional security establishment assessment to be held by the end of the year.
PM Netanyahu to Meet in Davos with Senior Yahoo and Google Corporate Officers

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will, at the upcoming 2014 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos (www.pmo.gov.il/English/MediaCenter/Spokesman/Pages/spokeforum251213.aspx), meet with Yahoo President and CEO Marissa Mayer and with Google Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer Nikesh Arora. In both meetings, the Prime Minister will emphasize Israeli innovation and the technological leadership of the Israeli high-tech industry in order to expand economic cooperation with the two companies.
Prime Minister Netanyahu is due to address the Forum plenum. In his remarks, he will focus on the technological leadership of the Israeli high-tech industry with an emphasis on the cyber industry.
In the invitation sent to the Prime Minister, it was noted that Israel is a key to positive developments in the regional and global economies and that the Forum will be a significant opportunity to present the government’s economic policy after one year in office.
In addition to his speech, Prime Minister Netanyahu will attend sessions on the IT and cyber industries and will hold working meetings with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto and other heads of state and government in order to advance economic cooperation.
Ahead of his departure for Davos, Prime Minister Netanyahu met with the heads of Waze and held a meeting with Israeli economic leaders.
