Szíria: támogatásáról biztosította Obamát az izraeli államfő
Simon Peresz izraeli államelnök hétfőn Obama iránti bizalmát hangsúlyozta, míg Mahmúd Abbász palesztin elnök pedig békés megoldást szorgalmazott Szíria ügyében.
Peres: I am sure that the United States Will Attack Syria
In a special interview with Israel Army Radio, the Israeli president rejected criticism of Obama following the attack: “There is not a doubt of the moral standing of the American president; I am convinced that he won’t finish without any thing.” Regarding the involvement of Israel, he said, “Assad is scared of us, but we are not a part of this.”

Israeli President Shimon Peres related in a special interview that it is legitimate that the American army decided to wait with an attack on Syria until they receive congressional approval and requested that the Israeli public won’t neglect its principles in its restraint and consideration of Obama.”
“The decision is still not accepted completely. The situation will not stay as is, but also having a war is very problematic,” said the president. “I suggest to equip oneself patiently another week. I am sure that the United States will act against Syria. There are people killed in the world, but an offensive like this there still was not. The world does not want the utilization of weapons of mass destruction.”
When it asked if Israel wants Bashar Assad’s regime overthrown, President Peres answered that “Assad is scared from Israel but Israel hasn’t decided. For conflicting reasons, there is an agreement that Israel will not go to war. The United States thinks that Israel will disturb the united coalition and we are doubtful ourselves that interfering is necessary and required.
“We don’t think that considering this understanding is hesitation,” the president reiterated. “The world isn’t hesitating, the world isn’t changing, and we have a serious problem. It is preferable to hesitate before and not after. I have confidence in Obama with everything related to Israel. For me, there are no comprehensive issues like for him; he needs to think about China and Russia.”

“Israel doesn’t need to act alone on the Iranian issue”
“There was a period that gas was used and children were killed; this is the real decisive reason it is impossible to go on organizing today. I trust that given the international interests, if Obama will receive support from Congress, he will do every thing. It is preferable for him to go to war with the support of Congress, than to go to war with Congress opposed. I assume that he checked and have basis to assume that he will receive confidence from his friends in Congress. He is a reasonable man,” claimed the president.
Regarding the use of chemical weapons in Syria, President Shimon Peres related also about the threat of the Iranian nuclear program. “This is a terrible dream, this issue is complicated. This is not only an Israeli issue. I have faith in the spoken international interests and I think that the world doesn’t want to inherit an Iranian nuclear weapon. I also think that the Russians want this. Israelis don’t need to act alone against Iran.”
President Peres’ concluding remarks focused on the peace negotiations with the Palestinians. “I’m sure that Prime Minister Netanyahu is ready for peace. He made difficult decisions for the sake of returning to the negotiating table. He also said that the solution needs to be on the basis of two-states; he is against a bi-national state. There isn’t a realistic leader that I know that has many alternatives on the details and I am sure that what will be activated will be for the good of Israel.”

Peresz kijelentette, hogy nem tekinti bizonytalankodásnak az amerikai csapás késlekedését. „Nem gondolom, hogy a mérlegelés azonos lenne a határozatlansággal” – mondta. ”Jobb előzetesen, mint utólag megfontolni a dolgokat”- tette hozzá.
Peresz közölte, hogy megbízik Obama Izraellel kapcsolatos ítéletében, hogy „kongresszusi felhatalmazással és nem anélkül indít háborút. Visszafogott és óvatos ember, aki végiggondolja döntéseit”- vélekedett.
Peresz szerint Obama késlekedése nem rontja hitelességét Irán nukleáris fegyverkezésének megakadályozásával kapcsolatban, mert ebben a kérdésben továbbra is napirenden maradt a katonai beavatkozás lehetősége. „Obama nem engedi, hogy Iránnak atomfegyvere legyen, és szerintem ezt az oroszok sem akarják”- jelentette ki az izraeli elnök.
Peresz a katonai csapásban bízva, Mahmúd Abbász palesztin elnök pedig éppen ellenkezőleg, az amerikai támadás elmaradását remélve nyilatkozott. „A palesztinok nem fogadják el, hogy külföldi országok egy arab államot bombázzanak”- jelentette ki Abbász, aki emellett elítélte a vegyi fegyverek bevetését is.
A szíriai válságnak nincs katonai, csak politikai megoldása”- közölte a Fatah Forradalmi Tanácsa rámalláhi nyitóülésén. „A szíriai történések nagyon veszélyesek”- mondta Abbász és figyelmezetett, hogy egy katonai megoldás meghosszabbíthatja a polgárháborút vagy feloszthatja Szíriát, ahogy az 1920-as években történt a francia gyarmatosítás idején.
„Békés megoldást szeretnénk a szíriai válságban”- jelentette ki a palesztin elnök.
