Palestinian Man Treated by IDF Paramedics

Nearly every day, IDF paramedics use their skills and knowledge to assist those living in Judea and Samaria – soldiers and citizens, Palestinians and Israelis.

Only this Tuesday Staff Sergeant Maya Shina and her colleagues, serving in the Jordan Valley, were called to arrive immediately at the gates of their base and treat an elderly Palestinian suffering from pulmonary edema.

The paramedics rushed to help him. “We started with intensive CPR, with one mission in sight – bringing the man to a stable condition, in order to bring him to the hospital alive. A few minutes after, the man’s breathing evened out,” said St. Sgt Shina, noting that he was now hospitalized and his condition defined as stable.

“Though it’s a stressful situation, it’s also a common one,” explained the paramedic. “Many of the Palestinians in need of medical care around here knowingly prefer our treatment to the civilian first aid, such as local hospitals. We don’t care about the religion or citizenship of the person asking for help, only about of his condition. We’ll continue to assist any person in need of medical attention, regardless of who he is.”
