The dialogue addressed a wide variety of themes related to proliferation, regional security and arms control.
 
 
 
 The Israel-Russia dialogue on strategic affairs was held today in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem. The Russian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Ryabkov, while the Israeli delegation was headed by Jeremy Issacharoff, Deputy Director General for Startegic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The dialogue addressed a wide variety of themes related to proliferation, regional security and arms control, and led to in-depth discussions of diplomatic and defence issues of great import to Israel and Russia.

Of particular significance were talks on the Iranian nuclear effort and its implications for the region. Current regional developments were also discussed.

During the dialogue, Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman held a closed meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov, in which he reviewed the main regional challenges, the first and foremost being Iran.
