Yediot Aharonot says that „The instinctive reof almost every Israeli citizen yesterday, upon learning of the shocking murder of the Fogel family, was approximately this: So, with these Palestinians you want to sign a treaty, to make peace?”  The author argues that „It is very likely that the terrible murder in Itamar is the fruit of the initiative of individuals.  Perhaps not.  In any case, it is another painful reminder that we do not have the possibility of choosing pleasant neighbors.  But it is with them – even when we see them as a terrible people – that we must make peace.”
Ma’ariv warns that „The actions of an individual or a group are liable to be the spark that ignites a conflagration – and we do not lack those who are willing to do so.”  The author claims that „The words of Netanyahu, at this stage, are considered devoid of content by the US and by Europe, as well as by the Palestinians.  Most Israelis also think… that all of the Prime Minister’s intentions are to loosen the diplomatic noose by means of empty words.”
Yisrael Hayom notes that „From various statements made by the US President’s advisors, it is possible to ascertain that that the 2009 [Cairo] speech contributed to creating an atmosphere which gave rise to the developments of the past weeks throughout the Arab world.  That is correct.  The Cairo speech implanted, for better or for worse, the seeds for revolution that have erupted in the Middle East today – whether we are talking about the bells of democracy or the oncoming of heightened Islamization.”
The Jerusalem Post criticizes the leniency shown by judges who accept plea-bargain deals offered by the prosecution to serious traffic offenders, even though our judicial system does not oblige them to abide by prosecution-defense deals, and states that “The very suspicion that judges may be taking the easy route when offered the opportunity is more than distressing.”
Haaretz comments on the devastating earthquake that hit Japan, and notes that “Israel acted properly when it expressed empathy and concern for the victims of the tragedy, even if Japan doesn’t need the assistance Israel has offered. This is one of those moments when humanity as a whole understands that we are all in the same boat, subject to the whims of nature.”
