Hezbollah chief warns: Thousands of fighters will join us against Israel

Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah decries conspiracy to „isolate” Iran and make it the enemy instead of Israel, says Saudis are too „weak and cowardly” to fight Iran • U.N. peacekeepers deny Israeli assertion that Hezbollah has set up outposts along border.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah issued a warning on Friday, saying that hundreds of thousands of fighters from across the region would fight against Israel alongside the Lebanese militia.

Referencing the 2006 Second Lebanon War, in which Israel fought Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, Nasrallah declared that „If Israel starts a war against Lebanon or Syria, it won’t be like 2006. Hundreds of thousands of jihadi fighters from Iraq, Yemen, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan will help us.”

Nasrallah went on to say that conspiracies had been concocted to „isolate” Iran and make it the enemy, rather than Israel.

„The new crown heir in Saudi Arabia [Prince Mohammed bin Salman] has threatened to take the war to Iran, but the Saudi regime is too cowardly and weak to launch a war against Iran,” Nasrallah boasted.

Tensions have risen between Hezbollah and its longtime rival Israel in the months since Donald Trump, who has been very vocal against Iran, became U.S. president.

Israel’s air force chief said last week that Israel would use all its strength from the start in any new war with Hezbollah.

Meanwhile, the U.N. denied on Friday claims by Israel that Hezbollah had established observation outposts along the Israel-Lebanon border under the cover of environmental group Greens Without Borders.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon peacekeeping organization said in response to the Israeli assertion that it had not „noticed any illegal armed presence at these sites.”
