Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the recognition of the Syrian National Coalition

álláspontja szerint a csaknem két éve zajló szíriai válság során a
saját népe ellen háborút viselő, tízezrek halálát, menekülthullámot,
pusztítást, humanitárius katasztrófát okozó és súlyos emberi
jogsértéseket elkövető, diktatórikus Aszad-rendszer elvesztette
legitimitását, és távoznia kell a hatalomból.
Magyarország úgy véli, minél előbb következik be a politikai
rendszerváltás Szíriában, annál előbb kap esélyt a szíriai nép
jövőjének szabad alakítására. Magyarország ezért úgy döntött, hogy
elismeri a szíriai felkelők és az ellenzék által novemberben Dohában
életre hívott Szíriai Forradalmi és Ellenzéki Erők Nemzeti
Koalícióját a szíriai nép egyetlen törvényes képviselőjének. Ezzel a
döntésével Magyarország nincs egyedül: a nemzetközi közösség egyre
szélesedő köre, köztük több EU-tagállam és a Szíriai Nép Barátai
Csoport találkozóin résztvevő, a szíriai változás mellett
elkötelezett számos ország lépett erre az útra. Magyarországnak ez a
döntése támogatást jelent a demokratikus átalakulást, a szabad
választásokat, az emberi jogok érvényesülését célzó törekvéseknek,
amelyek arra irányulnak, hogy a szíriai nép szabadon dönthessen
sorsáról. Fontosnak tartjuk, hogy a Nemzeti Koalíció egyesítse,
kifejezze akaratát és megfelelő teret adjon a szír társadalom
valamennyit törekvésének, irányzatának, csoportjának, és biztosítsa
az etnikai és vallási kisebbségek, különösen a szíriai keresztény
közösségek jogait és részvételét az ország jövőjét érintő
döntéshozatalokban.
Hungary’s position is that the Assad regime has lost its legitimacy
and must step down, as it waged a war against its own people causing
the death of tens of thousands, wave of refugees, destruction and
humanitarian disaster.
Hungary is of the opinion that the sooner a political regime change
takes place in Syria, the sooner the Syrian people has the chance to
take their future into their hands. Therefore Hungary has decided to
recognize the National Coalition of Syrian Revolutionary and
Opposition Forces formed by the Syrian insurgents and oppositional
forces in Doha last November as the sole legitimate representative
of the Syrian people. Hungary is not alone with this decision: an
increasingly widening circle of countries of the international
community – including several EU Member States, and those countries
who participated at the meetings of the Group of Friends of the
Syrian People and who are committed to the transformation of Syria –
have chosen this path. This decision by Hungary gives support to the
efforts aimed at democratic transformation, free elections, and the
promotion of human rights, the goal of which is that the Syrian
people could freely decide about their future. It is important that
the National Coalition unite, express the will of and provide
opportunities to all ambitions, views, and groups of the Syrian
society, as well as ensure the rights and inclusion of ethnic and
religious minorities, especially that of the Syrian Christian
communities in the decision making process concerning the country’s
future.
