The Truth Behind Hamas’ Funding

The 2012 budget of the Hamas terror organization is $769 million, an increase of 22 percent from 2011. How has it managed to reach this budget?
Hamas is highly dependent on outside funding. Iran, Hamas’ main backbone, supplies the terror organization with:
122m Grad Rockets – range 20km (12.4 mi.)
Other Rockets – range 40km (25 mi.)
Anti-Tank Missiles
Technical know-how – IED’s (Improvised Explosive Devices)
Training grounds on Iranian soil coached by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard
Several hundred million dollars of financial aid per year
Operating permits for Hamas’ headquarters in Damascus
Iran strongly undermines the attempts at peace proposed by both the Palestinian Authority and Israel. Therefore, she is aimed at disrupting this peace process through instilling fear in Israel’s population by equipping Hezbollah in the north and Hamas in the south.
Hamas’ chief, Khaled Meshaal said on a visit to Tehran in 2009:
„Other Arab and Islamic states also support us… but the Iranian backing is in the lead, and therefore we highly appreciate and thank Iran for this” (CBN)
En-route to Iran
Hamas militants exit through Gaza and enter Egypt. From there they fly to Syria and then to Tehran, Iran. Passports are not stamped by Iranian officials.
Training program in Iran
Hamas militants who venture to Iran spend anywhere from 45 days to six months with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in an intense training program. Terrorists in training learn a variety of skills in technology, rocket launching, detonating IED’s, sniping and other military tactics. Hamas terrorists who stand out from the training remain in Iran and participate in advanced courses. On their return to the Gaza Strip, they open up their own training programs as instructors.
Launching Grad rockets
During Operation Cast Lead, Hamas launched Chinese-imported Grad rockets with a range of up to 40km (25 mi.). As a result, one million Israeli citizens of southern Israel were under an immediate threat. Following the operation, Iran noticed that Hamas needed to restock its weapons arsenal, so they acted quickly. Iran immediately smuggled in rockets with a 48km (30 mi.) range through a route that passed through Sudan, the Sinai Peninsula and then into Gaza.
Along with state-sponsored terrorism, Hamas also gathers funds through charities and individuals.
Every year Hamas raises millions of dollars from Palestinian expatriates and charities from modern Arab states, Western Europe and North America. Thanks to money flowing in from charities, Hamas gives poor and religious Muslims the sense of being a motherly figure by providing them with money. Here are some of the organizations/charities that support Hamas:
Palestinian Association in Austria (PVOE):
Hamas headquarters in Austria controls money that is funneled through charities in Lebanon, Gaza and Judea and Samaria in order to ensure the funds are transferred undetected.
Sanabil Association for Relief and Development:
Based in Sidon, Lebanon, their purpose is to take large amounts of money from charities in Europe and pass it on to Hamas. Sanabil has set up offices in Palestinian refugee camps in order to be a symbol of financial security to the Palestinians.
Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development:
This is America’s largest Muslim charity. In 2001, President Bush froze $5 million of the charities assets after the FBI convicted the charity of transferring funds to schools in Gaza and Judea and Samaria that were indoctrinating children on how to become future suicide bombers. In 1994, the President of the charity, Shukri Abu Baker, was revealed as being a senior official in Hamas. On November 2008, Baker and his counter-parts were officially charged with transferring over $12 million to Hamas. He was sentenced to 65 years in prison and the charity was shut down a year later.
Al Salah Society:
One of the richest Hamas charities based in Judea and Samaria. Al Salah supported Hamas during the first intifada 1987 with recruitment and indoctrination of youth. One of the Hamas’ leaders and founders, Ismail Abu Shanab, openly identified the Al-Salah Society as “one of the three Islamic charities that form Hamas’ welfare arm.” The charity receives its funds from Persian Gulf countries such as Kuwait.
