SUMMARY OF EDITORIALS FROM THE HEBREW PRESS

Hatzofeh asserts that, Maj.-Gen. Moshe Kaplinski, in his former role as
GOC Central Command, stated that, „There is a military solution to
terrorism.” He acted on his words by implementing a successful
counter-terrorism policy which proved effective and is being continued
in Judea and Samaria today.

The editors believe that this proves that
the Yesha Council claim, „Allow the IDF to win,” is correct. These same
methods, continue the editors, can be used to solve the security problem
along the Egypt-Gaza border and without needlessly wasting NIS 3
billion.
Yediot Ahronot asserts that the so-called reforms, negative income tax
and compulsory pension plans, already exist in Israel today. The
National Insurance Institute (NII) provides a senior citizen’s stipend
and an income supplement. But, the editors add, the Ministry of Finance
has cut these allocations in, what they claim, is an effort to strangle
and suppress the NII. There is no need to import catchy phrases and
establish unnecessary infrastructures in the name of reform.
