The American Friends of Bar-Ilan University next week will bestow an Honorary Doctorate upon U.S. Senator and former First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton. Sen. Clinton is being recognized for her political leadership, her commitment to peace and security for the Jewish homeland, and for advocating the deep and lasting bond between the United States and Israel.
The conferment ceremony will take place in New York City on Sunday, March 5, in the framework of the American Friends of Bar-Ilan University National Jubilee Dinner celebrating Bar-Ilan University’s 50th Anniversary. „Sen. Clinton has never shied away from controversy,” says Bar-Ilan University President Prof. Moshe Kaveh. „She has always been an impassioned advocate for equal opportunity and human rights, and a catalyst for change. As such, it is fitting that she join Bar-Ilan’s impressive roster of distinguished statesman from around the world who have been awarded honorary doctorates by the University.” Additional honorary doctorate recipients at the event will include editor and publisher Mortimer Zuckerman, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of U.S. News and World Report and publisher of the New York Daily News, for his contribution to responsible journalism and to the quality and integrity of government; finance executive Harvey Krueger, Vice Chairman of Lehman Brothers, Inc., in recognition of his support of higher education in Israel and the University’s Doctoral Fellowships of Excellence Program; and financial investment and communal leader Ephraim Propp, for his longstanding support of Bar-Ilan University and the State of Israel. Pharmaceutical and nutrition industry pioneer S. Daniel Abraham, founder of Slim-Fast Foods, will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for his abiding commitment to the State of Israel and peace in the Middle East, his contributions to promoting future Israeli and global business leaders at Bar-Ilan University, and his philanthropic support of the disadvantaged.
