ALL ISRAEL ON ONE APPLICATION
THE TOURISM MINISTRY LAUNCHES ISRAEL’S TOURISM APPLICATION, PROVIDING IMMEDIATE AND UPDATED INFORMATION ON SITES, TOURS, ACCOMMODATION
AND EVENTS IN ISRAEL
The Tourism Ministry today launches a tourism application for iPhones. The application will find the user’s location and allow him/her to receive fast and updated information on sites, tours, accommodation and events taking place in the immediate area as well as other areas in Israel he intends to visit. In the next stage, the system will be adapted to other appliances.
With this application, the iPhone user will receive precise information including maps and augmented reality to direct him to the desired location and, with the click of a button, complete information tailor-made to his needs on a variety of heritage sites, family entertainment, nature reserves, active leisure options, archeology, museums and even the opportunity to build an individual tour – all this with photographs. The information will be updated by the Tourism Ministry and the relevant tourism bodies.
The iPhone user can also upload his own photographs and comments to the social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter in real time.
After downloading the application free of charge from App Store, the user can access the application even when he is offline (although updates will only be available with internet connection).
Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov: “The Tourism Ministry continues to lead the service revolution for the tourist and visitor to Israel with the use of advanced technology, as is done in the major tourism cities around the world. This application joins the Tourism Ministry’s electronic marketing system that includes the expansion of the website into different languages, activities in the social media, setting up forums etc.”
The application, which is launched in English and Hebrew, will soon be translated into other languages in keeping with the composition of incoming tourism – Russian, German, French and others. Working in cooperation with other tourism bodies, the ministry will soon include broader information in the application such as public transport, gas stations, hospitals etc.
The ministry will market the application in the coming months via the ministry’s multi-language website, the tourism office in Ben Gurion airport, Jerusalem, Eilat and Nazareth and via the various tourism industry bodies throughout Israel and overseas.
