למעלה מ-2,000 נציגי ארגונים, פעילים פרו ישראלים, דיפלומטים וסטודנטים, השתתפו בכנס שיזם השגריר דנון למאבק ב-BDS, בעצרת הכללית של האו”ם בניו יורק. באירוע השתתפה שגרירת ארה”ב לאו”ם, ניקי היילי, שנשאה דברים במהלך האירוע. השגריר דנון אמר באירוע: „המסר שלנו היום לאלו המבקשים לפגוע בישראל ובעם היהודי הוא חזק וברור- אנו נמשיך להילחם בתנועת ה-BDS עד שנמגר אותה ונמשיך להיאבק באנטישמיות בכל מקום”.

Amb. Danon Convenes Thousands for anti-BDS Summit in the UN General Assembly Hall
Over 2,000 representatives from organizations, pro-Israel activists, diplomats and students filled the United Nations General Assembly Hall to speak out against the boycott, divestment and sanction (BDS) movement. The US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley was the main speaker at the event. Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon, who convened the summit, stated that, „we are here today with a simple message for those who seek to harm the Jewish state and the Jewish people. We will keep fighting until we eliminate BDS completely, from the campuses to the UN, and we will keep fighting until antisemitism is finally defeated.”
בהובלת השגריר דנון, האו”ם אימץ החלטה ישראלית למניעת הטרדות מיניות
לאחר למעלה מחמש שנים בהן לא התקבלה החלטה ישראלית חדשה באו”ם, ועידת האו”ם למצב האישה אימצה בפה אחד החלטה ישראלית העוסקת במניעת הטרדות מיניות במקום העבודה. השגריר דנון, אשר הוביל את המהלך, בירך על אימוץ ההחלטה ואמר:”אימוץ ההחלטה הישראלית מהווה הישג חשוב בהשתלבותה של ישראל כחברה משמעותית באו”ם.” מדובר בהחלטה הראשונה שישראל העבירה בתחום זכויות האדם ומציבה את ישראל בשורה הראשונה של המדינות המובילות הפועלות למען קידום זכויות האדם באו”ם. בטרם אימוץ ההחלטה כ-16 מדינות חתמו על תמיכתן הרשמית בהחלטה ביניהן ארה”ב, יפן, דרום קוריאה, קנדה, קולומביה ועוד.

New Israeli Resolution Adopted by the UN 
The UN Commission on the Status of Women adopted by consensus an Israeli resolution focused on curbing sexual harassment in the workplace.  This is the first new Israeli-sponsored resolution at the UN in five years, and its adoption is a significant achievement for the Israeli Mission. „The adoption of this resolution at the UN is a noteworthy achievement and an additional step towards the realization of Israel as a significant player at the UN,” said Ambassador Danon after the vote. This is the first Israeli-sponsored resolution focusing on human rights and places the Jewish state as a leader at the UN on this topic. Sixteen countries signed on to support the resolution even before it was brought to a vote, including the United States, Japan, South Korea, Canada, and Columbia.

השגריר דנון נפגש עם מזכ”ל האו”ם, אנטוניו גוטרש, בכדי לדון ביחסי ישראל והאו”ם. הפגישה התקיימה מספר ימים לאחר שהמזכ”ל הורה לגנוז את דו”ח האו”ם שהאשים את ישראל באפרטהייד. במהלך הפגישה אמר דנון כי „ישראל מצפה שהתקופה הקרובה תוביל לשינוי משמעותי באו”ם” וכי „בישראל מקווים כי המזכ”ל יוביל תהליכים שיביאו לשינוי היחס העוין של האו”ם כלפי ישראל.”

Ambassador Danon Meets UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres
Ambassador Danon met with the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to discuss the relationship between Israel and the UN days after the Secretary General insisted on removing the UN report which accused Israel of apartheid. During their meeting Ambassador Danon told the Secretary General that he „expects there to be significant reforms at the UN in the near future,” and that „Israel hopes that the Secretary General will lead towards change in the UN’s biased approach towards Israel.”
