Response to Publications in Israeli Media

Following publications in the Israeli media regarding the second stage of the government plan to „freeze” building in certain communities in the Judea and Samaria region, the Israel Defense Forces would like to emphasize that the Civil Administration, the Israeli Police and the Border Police are the relevant authorities who deal with Israeli civilians, as is customary.

The commands published today in the Israeli media describe the first draft received by senior officers in the Judea and Samaria Regional Division and the Central Command as well as other relevant senior security officials.  The commands were distributed to the relevant sources as part of the routine work of the General Staff and as part of the IDF’s responsibility as the authority in the Judea and Samaria region.

It should also be noted that no IAF activity has been planned in this regard. The Civil Administration and the Central Command use privately-owned planes rented by the Defense Ministry in order to conduct photography sorties.

As always, the Israel Defense Forces acts according to the directives of the Israeli Government. Israeli citizens have a responsibility to leave the IDF, its officers and its soldiers out of politics.

The IDF’s central duty in the Judea and Samaria region is to combat terror on a daily basis, from those responsible for carrying out attacks to those who plan them, and preventing terror attacks in Judea and Samaria as well as the Israeli home front. The Israel Defense Forces invests numerous intelligence and operational resources in order to properly carry out this duty.

All diversions caused to security forces by either Israelis or Palestinians  who act to disrupt the law and order in the region are harming Israel Defense Forces operations and activities.
