SUMMARY OF EDITORIALS FROM THE HEBREW PRESS
Ma’ariv notes that the Israeli-Egyptian peace treaty
was signed 29 years ago today and comments
that, „Despite some Israelis’ disappointment over the peace with Egypt,
its general framework has withstood tests and is holding its own.” The
editors assert that peace with Egypt, „is the most important asset for
our national security,” and add that, „Therefore, maintaining it as such
is a supreme interest.”
Yediot Ahronot comments on Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan
Nasrallah’s recent speech and reminds its readers that, „This dead man
is still alive.” The editors add that Hezbollah is widely reputed to
have a bigger and better arsenal of rockets than it did during the
Second Lebanon War.
Makor Rishon-Hatzofeh sharply criticizes GOC Personnel Maj.-Gen. Elazar
Stern’s proposed changes to the active duty assignments of religious IDF
